One of the sponsors of the Alliance is the California Labor Federation, AFL-CIO.

You can get up to date information about the California Special Election, including events in your geographic region (CLCs around the state are posting their events).  You can also get the sneak preview of the new TV ad.

It is CRUCIAL that labor unites to defeat the anti-union agenda - most particularly defeating Prop 75.  We must remain ever vigilant & active, lest this anti-worker disease replicates in other states.

Dear Working Families e-Activist:

While working families struggle, thousands of companies are shipping jobs overseas. And while 8 million of us are jobless, the Bush administration encourages these companies to export America's jobs.

Today, you can confront the tidal wave of job exports in two ways:

First, click the button at right to find out from Working America's Job Tracker which companies in your community or industry are shipping jobs overseas.

Second, tell President George W. Bush to stop encouraging companies to send our livelihoods to low-wage countries. Click on the link below to take action now:

Working America, the community affiliate of the AFL-CIO for people who don't have the benefit of union contracts, created the Job Tracker so you can find out what happened to those good, family-supporting jobs that used to sustain your community. Check it out now by clicking on the link below:

Nationwide, we've lost 2.7 million manufacturing jobs since President Bush took office, yet he continues to push for unfair, job-killing international trade deals. We've also lost 850,000 business service and information jobs, yet he supports tax incentives for job-exporting companies. In fact, Bush's The Economic Report of the President, 2004 flat-out endorses job exporting: "When a good or service is produced more cheaply abroad, it makes more sense to import it than to provide it domestically," it says.

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), in contrast, has a solid plan to create and keep jobs here in America. He will end tax incentives for job exporting and ensure that U.S. companies moving overseas don't get government contracts.

Tell President Bush we need good jobs here in America.

You also can download a candidate comparison flier on exporting U.S. jobs. Print this out for yourself or take it to your local printer to make copies for all your co-workers and family. You can find the flier at:

Please forward this e-mail to your family and co-workers and encourage them to visit Working America's Job Tracker today and to tell President Bush to stop rewarding job exporters.

UNITY @ VERIZON (CWA & IBEW  COAST-TO-COAST)

CWA Local 3673, Verizon North Carolina, has been on strike since May 19th.  The company is refusing to give workers the same wage increase and additional holiday that the other Verizon West workers have.  Yet the company is insisting on give backs.

This local of 150 workers is standing strong.  The strike is solid.

Get Respect at CDN!

The 2 1/2 year long drive for union representation at the Chinese Daily News continues. The employer still has not accepted the election or recognized the union. The workers are holding a Rally for Respect on July 9th and delivering petition signatures demanding Respect.
