RULES - BETTY SMITH COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

· To establish a fund of $1,000 to be divided into four (4) $250 scholarships

· Applicant to include a brief statement of their career goals.

· Should the recipient fail/drop out of school, all remaining funds will be returned to the Local’s Scholarship Fund.

· Applicant must either be a CWA, Local 9588 member in good standing, or son/daughter (to include step or adopted children of a CWA, Local 9588 member in good standing). The CWA, Local 9588 member must be a member 90 days prior to selection.

· Applicant must have completed at least one year of college.

· Applicant entering the second, third or fourth year of college must show proof of completion or at least 20 units for each year of college completed.

· Applicant must show proof of registration in year of scholarship before funds are disbursed.

· Applications must be postmarked or hand delivered by August 1^st of each year.

· Winners will be selected by random drawing at the August Executive Board meeting.

· Previous winners of CWA Local 9588 scholarships are not eligible.

· The CWA, Local 9588 member shall maintain their union membership status (as a member in good standing) for the duration of this scholarship. Failure to do so shall result in the forfeiture of any funds or remaining funds.
